DATAMIX 16 (Full Mix)

It sucks how a duo can put together such a killer mix set and when you see them live only to find out they are absolute garbage. Altho in their defence they are playing a smaller city than they are used to so they probably don’t give a shit.

Anyway, here is how I like to enjoy Designer Drugs, and not by remembering the disaster of a show he had in town here: Dumping his drinks on a lamp and telling me he has no idea what to play next… Earning him the name “designer drunk”

I tweaked the poster again… here are the two final copies…

Got a chance to check out the Lazy Rich show last night at the Pyramid.
I got in around 11:15 when Tyler Crichton was killing it. An awesome electro set with some dubstep near the end, a perfect mix. And his set mostly his own tracks if not all his own, I was super impressed.
Lazy Rich hit the decks with no intro track or anything fancy, just a 4x4 beat booming away, getting straight into the electro beats. It would have been nice to see him put a little thought into his intro track but that’s just me. His set was pretty flat, mixing was pretty slack, waited until the bitter end before mixing the track out… Some wicked electro bangers here and there, but i guess i was hoping for something spectacular and didn’t quite get it. I wouldn’t say i was disappointed but i wasn’t fully satisfied either.
The visuals were done by Onion Union and were awesome all night long. Not my style personally but it was great to watch something different. Never a dull moment on the screens. Great job guys
Overall it was a great night, the place was packed but not to the point of it being overcrowded. Good times had by all, big ups to bassface, looking forward to the next one!

Its a sad day when I feel I need to post this information but:
THIS IS A CROSSFADER!
If it is in the middle, both decks will play at the same time. If it is to the right, the deck on the right will play. If it is to the left, only the deck on the left will play…simple right? Apparently not…
It has happened to me on more than one occasion where I will finish my set and the next dj will stand there in silence while they try to figure out what is going on with the dance floor just staring at them. I watched this guy and his friend flip every knob and switch on the mixer before one of them figured out what was going on. I just stood and watched, I wanted to see how long it would take them to figure it out. It took maybe 10 seconds, but i’m sure it felt much longer than that to them, hopefully the lesson was learned.
Maybe i’m the oddball here because come to think of it, most times I play out i’m assigning the appropriate channels when i get up there because none of the dj’s before me have set up the crossfader.
Anyway, get to know this little guy,i’m sure you can find a use for it, go on, give it a wiggle, see what happens.

Constructive Criticism

I’m passionate about DJing and it bugs me when I see some piss poor DJ out there who cant mix a glass of iced tea get up on stage and put on a half assed performance and think they are a hero because of it. Never mind talk shit about someone who calls them out on it.  So if someone who knows what they are talking about says that you didn’t play very well, take a step back and think about it and improve for next time.

Thanks
